The 12th Man – A Short Film with Middlesbrough FC
“The 12th Man” is a short branded film created in partnership with Middlesbrough FC, Steel & Iron, and 27 Productions, celebrating the unbreakable bond between a football club and its supporters.
Shot on location at the Riverside Stadium, with the Transporter Bridge as a backdrop, the film follows the story of a disheartened Boro fan who loses faith after watching his team concede a vital goal. On the verge of walking away, he crosses paths with club legend Bernie Slaven, who reminds him that the fans are the beating heart of Middlesbrough FC — the true 12th man.
The project brought the community together, with over 120 supporters from the Middlesbrough FC Supporters Club filling out the stands to bring the stadium to life. The film was shot on the Blackmagic Pocket Pro 6K, with kit supplied by Focus Canning, and completed with a lightning-fast turnaround — filmed in just one day and fully edited in two.
